Marketing Video SoundOne of the biggest and most frequent errors that many people make when creating a marketing video is to spend all there time focusing on getting the visuals right. Now, obviously the video is extremely important. But just be careful. The sound is just as important!

A Marketing Video Pitfall

Think of it this way: Say there is a film on. But the video stops working. All you can do is hear it. There is still a good chance that you would be able to keep up with what going on. That’s because the dialogue and the sound effects can inform you of everything that is happening.

But if the video is working and there is no sound, then you are in trouble. You can see who is on the screen and what they are doing. But, without the sound, you would have a real struggle to keep up with any context whatsoever! It would be a bunch of people running around miming at each other. Sound is that important!

Seperate Audio From Video

So when it comes to your marketing video, you really do have to treat the audio side of it with as much care as the video. This means that maybe you should invest in using an external microphone, instead of the one that is built into the camera.

Even though the camera mics can seem okay at first, in reality they just cannot record the quality of sound that your audience will be used to! What you want is a professional recording device that will capture exactly what you want it to and nothing else. If your going to spend your money on a marketing video, then make sure that the audio is clean.

And What Do We Mean By Clean Audio?

Say you are looking to have a testimonial video. Something where someone is being filmed discussing the benefits of your company. This is a very effective tool in your marketing arsenal. What you don’t want is a muffled, echoey voice that is difficult to understand. Furthermore, you want to make sure that the viewer (and potential customer) can’t hear any unnecessary background noises. Car horns and traffic have no place in your video. So it is best to try to avoid all of that malarkey.

This is a chance for you to let the customer know that your company is the top professional in your industry. You might lose that message if your company video sounds like a first year film student’s project (No offense to first year film students, of course!!). But you see where we’re coming from!

Whether your marketing video is a corporate promotion, a product demonstration or simply an interview piece, please ensure that you give the audio side of it as much love and consideration as you do at the visual end. It might just be the difference between a new client, or a passer-by! At the end of the day, video marketing is one of the most effective ways to get attention. But, just be sure that when you do get peoples attention, they can actually understand you!
