Video production catching mistakesThese days, having a professional corporate video for your clients or potential customers is a must. However, creating these sophisticated videos is definitely a skill set that not many people possess. It requires equipment, planning and experience to successfully produce quality video content. Some companies find that they constantly hit road blocks in their productions. So, we thought it would be best to help identify the potential pitfalls that one should look out for when developing creative content for your ever growing business.

Lights, Camera, Action…Starts with the Lights!

Lighting is one of the few silent heroes of video production. It is something that can be overlooked and taken for granted. This is because, it is simply something that your not suppose to actually notice. Numerous videos and promotions are churned out without a proper lighting plan. This can be a real danger when it comes to the presentation of the service or product on screen.
One famous example of this is the well-known presidential debate between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon in 1960. This was considered a landmark moment in media history. Back then, we were only realizing the power of the visual medium, as Nixon’s popularity plummeted due to his physical appearance on screen.
It was said, that people who listened to the debate on the radio thought that Nixon had actually won. Meanwhile, the people who tuned into the television broadcast believed that Kennedy had been superior. In the end, it all came down to appearance. On that day, the image ruled!
This is why lighting (and maybe a quick brush of makeup) should not be overlooked when it comes to your promotional material.

Sound is half the battle

One of the other main factors of a successful corporate video is the sound. Audio is one half of your efforts. However, it also tends to be one of the areas in which unique and interesting videos fall down. This may be because it is not as flashy and time consuming as the video end of production. But, investing in quality sound can be the difference maker! Muffled audio or a noisy background can quickly give the impression of amateurism. And that is definitely not one of the things that you would like your potential customers to take with them after watching your video.
Another way of looking at it is this: If you listen to a video without seeing the images, you can still keep up with what is happening, more or less. However, if you watch a video without sound, then it is very difficult to figure out what the people on the screen are actually talking about. Sound is that important! So why skimp out on such a crucial component to your marketing strategy!

Breakout from the pack

All in all, the creation of video content has never been more affordable and accessible. However, this doesn’t mean that the rules have changed when it comes to quality production value. It is more important than ever to pull your brand out from behind the competition and show your customers that your business truly is superior.
The best way to do this is to plan out who you are making the video for primarily. Then consider what type of video would be the most suitable. Because, one of the biggest mistakes that is made when planning a corporate video is that it is aimed at the wrong audience. So remember, make sure that the content going out best reflects the image that you want your customers to see!
