One Productions, One Gallery, an Alchemy.
One Productions, the Dublin creative communications company, is set to curate a series of multi-disciplinary art exhibitions in 2011 at the One Gallery studio space. The inaugural exhibition of this series, to be held on Thursday 2nd June 2011 from 6 to 9pm at One Gallery, 3 Clare Street, Dublin 2, is an exploration into the relationship between contemporary art and the traditional work setting through the medium of interactive media, visual art, craft, installation and performance.
This series of exhibitions held at the One Gallery Clare Street studio, opposite the National Gallery, will showcase the work of up-and-coming artistic talent from Ireland and abroad. This gravitation towards multi-disciplinary art has a dual aim; to give new artists a forum for their work, and to keep fresh ideas and innovation flowing into the company. One Gallery is a non-profit, pro-artist studio space. Artists at One receive 100% of sale price for all work.
The first exhibition involves the innovative team at One Productions who have pooled together their creative skills to form a collective, inspired by the sun-lit hub of activity that is their Clare Street work space. The exhibition is a personalised response on behalf of each individual to honour the abundant creativity within One Productions company.
One Productions is paying homage to the rich cultural heritage associated with the magnificent Georgian building at 3 Clare Street. Home to George Sigerson, renowned poet, physician, politician and GAA legend, 3 Clare Street was one of the city’s most famous meeting places for artists, musicians and intellectuals in the tumultuous years of the late 19th and early 20th century.
During the Irish Literary Revival, it was here between these walls where W.B. Yeats met the nationalist John O’Leary who inspired the September 1913 refrain, “Romantic Ireland's dead and gone/ It's with O'Leary in the grave”. In the days following the 1916 Easter Rising, many on-the-run republicans found refuge at 3 Clare Street, including Cathal Brugha.
One Productions has run a critically successful series of fine art exhibitions since 2004, showcasing work by well established artists such as Hugh O’Conor, Maria Hildrick and also Dublin-based artist Catriona Hardie, whose work has been exhibited at the Project Art Space, the Rubicon Gallery and the National Library of Ireland. One Productions also hosts writers’ workshops and master classes in collaboration with Some Blind Alleys Creative Writing Centre.
One Productions was co-founded by Director and Art Director Tom Hopkins in January 2000. Winners of the Digital Media Awards in 2006 and 2007, the One Productions team has evolved over the years to collectively become a strong creative and productive force, combining cutting edge graphic design, digital marketing and a production company under one roof. One Productions integrates stylish design with high calibre content delivered through multiple media including print and web design, music, short films and TV advertisements.
