Identity :: The Point

Brand Rationale:
The Point wished to update their corporate image from the representational logo showing an outline of the building they had worked with since the company had formed. In the intervening years The Point venue had become partly owned and wholly run by Clear Channel Entertainment.

We used the Clear Channel colours, blue and black, to design a new image for The Point which would suggest the premier venue in Ireland, without showing a literal picture of it. A mixture of serif and sans serif was used, the serif to suggest the various arts which pass through the building, and the sans-serif to communicate the solidity of the venue and its long-standing visibility on the Irish venue scene.

In addition, The Point want people to stop calling their venue “The Point Depot” – a now defunct, but still popular name for the venue. By bolding out the “Point” element we emphasised that “Depot” was no longer part of the venue name. The blue swoosh over the top of the lettering unifies the logo, suggests the enclosure of the Point venue, and is also suggestive of a shooting star trail, or fireworks, both symbolic of the type of entertainment offered at The Point.
