Splendid Isolation

Splendid Isolation brings together three recently graduated young photographers from across Europe, whose inspirations have led to a unique collection of colour portraits.

The idea behind the exhibition space at 3 Clare Street was inspired by the early 19th century ‘curio’ houses which, as well as being living or working spaces, also doubled as a living breathing museum or gallery of works.

This is the fourth show in One Production’s Attic Gallery exhibition series.

Emelie Lidström was born in Karlstad, Sweden in 1981 and graduated from IADT Dún Laoghaire this year with a BA(hons) degree in fine art. She describes her work as “drawing from the individual’s feeling of displacement in the transmigrational world”. For Splendid Isolation, Emelie will show images that explore escapism and the impossibility in avoiding one’s own physicality. The images can be viewed as a playful visual puzzle, where the understated presence of the artist situates itself in a conceptual corporeality.

Davey Moor was born in Dublin in 1976 and graduated from IADT Dún Laoghaire in ’04 with a Diploma in Photography. His work deals figuratively with the individual, set where internal and external landscapes blend into one. With textual accompaniment.

Grace Schwindt was born in Offenbach am Main, Germany in 1979 and graduated this summer with a BA(hons) degree in Photography from the University of Westminster, London. Her series ‘Ten in Berlin’ tells the story of the transitional period between childhood and adolescence for ten-year-old Berliners, “concerned with the relationship between society and personal experience and how individuals themselves negotiate this difficult relationship in different phases of their lives.”

Addressing themes of personal displacement and escapism in scenes where internal and external landscapes blend into one.

At one productions, 3 clare street , dublin 2, promotion of the arts is paramount, and utilising our studio as an exhibition space for new, interesting artists is a vehicle for creative research into the relationship between contemporary art and the domestic or the traditional work setting.
